Mock Trial

During the 2019-2020 school year, St Joseph Catholic School will be sponsoring a Mock Trial Competition Team. Participation is limited to 6th grade students.

The goal of mock trial is to educate students about the American judicial system and the mechanics of litigation.  Through participation in mock trial, students will increase basic skills such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and problem analysis.

Our mock trial team will be entered into a competition sponsored by the South Carolina Bar.  Through this competition, the students will learn the valuable skills of critical analysis, public speaking, teamwork, oral argument, persuasion and good sportsmanship.

There are a variety of different roles students can play in the mock trial team, including: attorneys, witnesses, timekeeper, bailiff, and evidence keeper.
