Junior Beta Club at Saint Joseph Catholic School
Saint Joseph School has had a National Junior Beta Club for many years. Students are invited to be in the Beta Club at the end of their 5th grade year. They become eligible to be in the Beta Club by demonstrating academic excellence and exemplary behavior. The specific criteria is as follows:
Students will maintain a 94% or higher grade point average of all academic classes. Reading, Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Religion and Spelling quarter grades will be added and divided by seven.
Students will consistently follow school rules and policies. They will receive no more than two demerits in a quarter.
Students will participate in 60 minutes of service learning per quarter.
Fifth graders who meet the above criteria for second and third quarters will be inducted into the SJS Junior Beta Club for their sixth grade year. Students are required to maintain the standards of admission each quarter. Any other sixth grade students who achieve the standards for two consecutive quarters after the induction will be invited to join.
Lead Through Service
The purpose of the Beta Club is to “lead through serving others”. Student elected officers lead the meetings. The club participates in service projects throughout the school year, both at school and in the community. Students are invited to attend National Beta Club programs. Beta Club students are considered “Student Ambassadors”. They assist as tour guides and helpers for various school functions.
