In grades one through six, students are given summative assessment testing following the completion lessons or units of study. These assessments can take the form of pen and paper tests (multiple choice, matching, true/false, etc), essays/research papers, or projects. There will be four summative assessments in each major subject in each academic quarter.
In mathematics, students in grades two through six will have a weekly assessment every Friday. This assessment will be administered to check on weekly progress. It may be a quiz, a worksheet or an actual test.
All of these summative assessments will be graded by the child’s teacher and signed by the principal. They will be returned to parents in the child’s Monday folder for their signature.
