Saint Joseph Catholic School Frequently Asked Questions:

Is there a waiting list? Waiting lists occur when enrollment produces two filled sections in each grade. Each section has a twenty-five student maximum.

How are class spaces filled? Currently enrolled students re-register first. Then, any siblings of currently enrolled students are next, followed by registered, regularly contributing parishioner's children, and finally, nonparishioners.

Who is considered a parishioner? To be considered a regularly contributing parishioner a family must be registered at Saint Joseph Church (forms may be obtained from the church office) and attend Mass on a regular basis.

Do the students wear uniforms? All of our students (including K4) wear uniforms. A variety of uniform clothing can be worn.

Is there a lunch program or do children have to bring lunches from home? The Saint Joseph School lunch program is managed by Schoolhouse Fare. Schoolhouse Fare is a full-service, internet-based lunch program designed to provide our families with the convenience of ordering nutritious and delicious meals from some of the area’s most popular restaurants. Students may also bring lunches from home.

Does the school have an athletic program? Athletic programs are organized/promoted through Saint Joseph Church. Mr. Todd Wilkinson is the Athletic Director for the parish. Sports are opened to both boys and girls.

What is the age requirement for students entering Four Year Old Kindergarten? Saint Joseph School follows the state requirements. Students must be four years old on or before September 1. This September 1 date also applies to students entering K5 and Grade 1. In rare cases, parents may challenge this ruling by having their child tested using the Dial -3 instrument (a screening tool administered at the school in the spring that measures readiness).

When is Saint Joseph School’s application period? Application packages are mailed out at the end of January and the application period ends mid-March.

What if I am not Catholic? While we are a Catholic School and share the teachings of the Church, we welcome our non-Catholic friends to join our school family. Over the years, these students and their families have been a special part of our community. During Mass, we welcome our non-Catholic students and guests to join in the Communion celebration by coming forward to receive a special blessing from the priest or extraordinary minister. In January, we invite ministers from area churches to share in an Ecumenical Prayer Service held during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
